| East
and West Coast Chancellors Together in Manila |
For
the very first time, the Chancellors of the US
East and West Coast Chapters of the Chancery – Chancellors
DR Teodoro and Butch Olivar – were together
in Manila during the month of September 2005.
Brod Caloy Esguerra also came from New York. This
being a rare occasion, the Chancery organized a
special fellowship for all these brods at the IO
KTV in Makati last 12 September. The visiting brods
were treated to a night of videoke singing, news
updates, etc. and, of course, the traditional Alphan
chug-a-lug. The Chancery also presented them with
citations recognizing their respective achievements,
plus special gifts for the Chancellors. The visiting
brods also
came to greet and mingle with fellow Alphans

during
the Chancery’s regular fellowship held September
16 at the Club Filipino in Greenhills. During his visit,
Chancellor Butch Olivar made his usual rounds and fellowships
with the brods over continuous
streams of San Miguel beer, if not red wine. He also
presented a thick envelop to Resident LC Malcolm Madriaga,
the beneficiary of the West Coast Chapter’s scholarship
program for Resident Lord Chancellors.
For his part, Chancellor DR Teodoro brought with him
for distribution, bundles of specially-designed T-shirts
indicating East Coast states where Alphans are located.
He hosted several smaller fellowships/gatherings with
the brods. He also held discussions on the East Coast
Chapter’s plan to provide fellowship grants aimed
at encouraging achievements in campus journalism and
student leadership at the UP.
Brod Caloy Esguerra, an international award-winning
photo-artist, conducted a special photography workshop
for the brods.. This was held at the University Hotel
in UP Diliman Campus on September 17, 2005. He also
made arrangements for his forthcoming photo exhibition
in November-December 2005 to be sponsored consecutively
by the Rotary Club of SFDM and the Chancery.
