| There
are several project ideas which have been suggested to
be pursued by the APBAA for 2003-2004. A list of priority
projects initially approved by the APBAA Board of Directors
in its meeting of 17 January 2003, include the following: |

National
Center for Justice
Aimed at providing legal aid and services to the marginalized
sectors and victims of injustice, the Center shall be
based in our fraternity house located
in U.P. Village, Diliman, Q.C. The operational mechanics
of the Center, strict screening, and availment procedures
shall be prepared. Designated to head
the center is Brod Louie Q.U. Uranza, Jr.
Alphan Directory
It has been more than ten years now since an alumni directory
has been prepared and published. Of late, membership information
has been collected, but much more work is needed to make
it current. A dedicated "Task Force Directory",
led by Brod Percy Rosales, has been created to coordinate
efforts
in this regard. Brods who have not yet completed the Directory
Information Sheet, which can be found in this website,
are requested to do so and send
it to our "Task Force Directory" on an urgent
basis.
Newsletter
It has also been a long time since we've had an APBAA
newsletter. So to start the year right, the maiden issue
of the The Alphan Chronicle was released on 31 January
2003 in time for the induction of the new set of Board
of Directors and Officers of the Alumni Association. The
newsletter was put together by
a Editorial Board of ex-Managing Editors of the Philippine
Collegian: Brods Vic
de Jesus, Bani Aguirre, Rene Valdecantos, and Con-con
San Antonio with the help of printing ace Ariel Arceo.
Other brods are invited to join the Editorial Board. The
Alphan Chronicle is planned to come out on a quarterly
basis.
But to do so, brods are requested to submit current information
on their
(and/or other brod's) whereabouts and activities, info
tid-bits of interest
to the fraternity, cartoons, photographs with captions,
employment opportunities, letters, etc., to the Editorial
Board.
Alphan Website
You are viewing the first edition of our new website with
the following domain name: www.alphaphibeta.org
Aimed at keeping the APBAA members abreast with the latest
news utilizing modern information technology, the Alphan
website shall provide you with better and faster access
to fraternity information and link you to brods worldwide.
The website will be continuously updated to include,
in the near future, a dynamic portion consisting of: (a)
Directory of APBAA Members; and (b) a Bulletin Board to
serve as a venue for discussion of issues of common concern
to our fraternity. A password (available only to brods)
will be required to access the dynamic portion of website.
A Website Development Team (coordinated by Brods Bani
Aguirre and Vic de Jesus) has been formed
to develop, continuously update and improve our website.
Brods are requested to submit to the team pertinent information
for inclusion in the website.
Monthly Fellowships
The APBAA monthly fellowships have been very successful
and will be continued with greater vigor as more and more
brods are expressing interest to host. Starting February
2003, these monthly fellowships will be held every 3rd
Friday of the month, 6.00 p.m., at the Club Filipino in
Greenhills, San Juan, unless otherwise changed. To further
interaction, fellowship and solidarity, brods are also
encouraged to meet in groups or batches. The venues of
such gatherings may be made on the basis of proximity
to their respective places of work, i.e. Makati brods
meet in Makati; Pasig brods meet in Pasig, etc. Brods
who are overseas are also encouraged to organize chapters
and meet on regular basis.
Career Promotion and Enhancement
The APBAA is committed to promoting, developing and enhancing
the careers
of all deserving Alphans. Regular consultations among
members will be conducted with the end in view of maximizing
the career potentials of concerned brods. At the same
time, employment opportunities will be vigorously explored
This will not only build a stronger membership responsive
to the needs of our brods, but also enable our Alumni
Association to be of service to the community and the
nation at large.
Souvenirs and Memorabilia
Fraternity souvenirs and memorabilia such as pins, banners,
coffee mugs, shirts, jackets, etc. will be produced and
sold to members at affordable prices.
This will not only raise additional funds for our Alumni
Association but will also provide lasting mementos of
our fraternal bonds. |
