The following account(s) on the whereabouts of brods and what they are up to was taken from "What Alphans all over the world are doing" which appeared in our official newsletter The Alphan Chronicle, Volume 1, Issue 1, January 31, 2003. Items 37 to 44 have been added in light of new developments and recently-gathered information.
Alphans are requested to send new and updated info to Vic de Jesus at the following email address: ginesdemafra@yahoo.com for inclusion in the forthcoming issue of our newsletter and/or this section of our website.
  • Nick Poblador ('56), is leaving the cool heights of Baguio City for the languid beaches of Palawan to meditate on the sweet pleasures of tropical paradise.

  • More tidbit: APBAA was registered with SEC on May 6, 1966 with 15 incorporators, 5 directors. After 28 years, the directors were raised to 15 which SEC approved in 1994. That, in Amang's axiom, is politics!

  • There's no truth to the rumor that upon assuming the post of Alumni LC, Rene Valdecantos ('63) will now be known as Rene V. That smacks of royalty.

  • Noe Tuason ('64) is Research Scientist at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of the University of California, San Francisco. He and his wife are based in San Leandro, CA. They recently came as volunteers of a Medical mission of Northern California.

  • Orthography is the bane of one brod. His name is always misspelled. Former Human Rights Commissioner Hesi Mallillin's name has two ll at both instances.

  • Two Alphans have topped the bar as No. 1: Greg Castillo (89.15% in 1957) and Henry Villarica (92.4% in 1971). The highest bar grade attained by an Alphan was 94.3% by Brod Raymundo Armovit, who ranked no. 4 in 1954.
Additional info (not included in the January 31 issue of The Alphan Chronicle).

  • Temi Rivera '65, is on leave from U.P. and holds the post of Professor of International Relations, International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan. He has proposed the establishment of an endowment fund to provide undergraduate scholarships in U.P. and, funds permitting, a professorial chair. To kick-off the process, he promises to come up with a modest contribution.

  • Congratulations to Fred Clemente, on his recent wedding to a young beauty from Bicol. This is one occasion when we would not want to wish him "may you have many more!" Fred continues to teach in UP, runs three development banks, and holds court at the UP Tennis Courts (wherelse!). He is now in the midst of completing the 7th serial issue of his Book "In the Company of My God."

  • Editor Nacpil, '63, is President of EDNAC Enterprises in Paranaque which deals with a whole range of petroleum technology products from waterproofing, rustproofing, to building epoxy coatings, sports surfaces coatings, floorings, etc. You name it….

  • Nelson Navarro, from time to time, accepts important commissioned editorial and writing projects of high professional standards. Otherwise, he is living a quiet and fulfilled life in his condo hide-out in one of the plush villages in Makati.

  • Emil de Guzman, continues with his practice as immigration lawyer in New York. His law office (3rd Floor, 319 Broadway, New York, NY 10007) is strategically located - right across the INS office!.

  • After leaving a well-known computer university which he helped to expand, Manny Abad, is now using his success formula in turning the school which his wife, Agnes, pioneered -- the Asian Institute of Health Care - into the best of its kind in this part of the world. For more information, visit www.hospiceasia.org

  • Egay Pajaro '63, owns and manages the Infinity Security & Investigation Services, Inc. - with offices in Shaw Blvd. Cor. Pioneer St., Pasig City. At any one time, he has at least 800 security guards under his employ. No wonder, brods feel very safe whenever they hang-out in "Zibibo", a bar-restaurant (owned by Egay's son) located in Ruby St., Ortigas Center.

  • Since Ismael Z. Villareal's retirement as Vice Chief of Staff, AFP, a few years back, he has set-up a consultancy firm, based in Antipolo, dealing with defense and security studies, defense procurement, and business development. Brod Ismael is also President of the U.P. MBA Society Alumni, Inc.

  • For your travel needs, come to Tripmart Travel Services, owned and operated by Lou Dumlao, located at Cillben Commercial Bldg, 467 Alabang Zapote Road, Las Pinas City, Tel 800-3693 and Fax 800-3694. (This is not a paid advertisement, but any contribution to the APBAA will not be refused.)
